My daughter is only 2 1/2 but she is a lefty. She will watch me color with my right, grab the crayon with her right and immediately switch to her left.
I want to teach her how to write, cut with scissors, use a knife ,etc but I don't know how to go about it. I'm terrible with my left.
My plan is to have a lefty friend around to help.
Any ideas are welcome...

Thanks.
She is totally a lefty. When she plays soccer, throws balls, etc it is always with her left. At times she tries with her right to do all those but she ends up switching to left almost immediately.
And yes, I know she is only 2.5 but she already spends her time in the kitchen with me and she wants to learn to use a knife. I will never say no to her if she wants to learn something. Some may say its crazy to teach her to use a knife at this age but neither my partner nor I have a problem with it.

She will get it on her own. Just make sure to buy left handed scissors for her to cut with. You really don't have to have someone left handed to teach her those things it will just came naturally just like coloring does now for her. One thing to note is that although she may write left handed she may do all her sports right handed. There are very few left handed people that do everything left handed. Most will write left handed but do physical activity right handed. She is still pretty young yet to know which way she will go for sports. We are a family of 5. 4 of us are right handed and my 13 yr old is left handed. She is like most......writes with left but does sports with right.

No, he uses his left hand for that.
You don't need to be teaching a 2.5yo how to use a sharp knife yet anyway. She will be able to copy you even with you using your right hand.

Thanks Michelle!
I'm a chef so by knife using, I meant like for cooking, not for cutting your meat during dinner.
Wait, does your husband use his right when preparing food?

She will copy you so it doesn't matter if you are right or left handed.
Show her how you hold things and she can copy using her left hand. My husband is left handed and our daughter is right handed, he has shown her how to write as well as other things and it hasn't been an issue at all.
ETA: You should teach her to use her knife in the right hand though. Both my husband and Mum (lefties) use their knife in their right hand, it can be done.
