I just thought i would share an email i got today from the RBWH about needing funds for a milk bank.
If anyone is interested, would like more info, here is what I had in the email. (By the way, i am in no way associated with the RBWH or anything more than having my daughter there)
2010 is certainly flying by! It has been an extremely eventful year so far, but there is plenty more in store for the next few months.
In the very near future we will be officially launching our fundraising campaign for Queensland’s first hospital-based Mother’s Milk Bank. This is an incredibly important service which will have a direct impact on the healthy outcomes of the 1,500 premature and seriously ill babies which are treated each year in the Royal’s Neonatal Unit. Many of the mothers of these babies are unable to provide their own milk, so the only choice at the moment is to feed them formula. Mother’s milk, however, can provide pre-term babies with important health benefits including the faster development of the immune system which can reduce the risk of infection and other complications.
Unfortunately, the Milk Bank is not eligible for government funding at this stage so RBWH Foundation has taken the project on board and pledged to help raise the funds needed to get the Milk Bank up and running. To do this we need your help.
We will be conducting a number of fundraising activities for the Milk Bank, such as our upcoming Melbourne Cup Lunch (see below), but if you would simply like to make a donation you can do so by calling 07 3636 3394 or visiting www.rbwhfoundation.com.au
