I have a 3 yo and an 8 mo, I work PT but am thinking about making the switch to a FT SAHM. Just wondering how other moms organize their time with the kids - do you plan out time for activities (art, music, playtime, clean up) or just go with the flow? How do you juggle time with 2 kids, especially when they can't/don't really play together? I would love to hear what other moms do to get through their week - I feel like I need to have a better plan for our time together. Thanks for the help!

I don't plan anything unless it's with other people. At home we pretty much get up, have breakfast, washing and dishwasher go on, play, nap time, more playing or reading, lunch, other form of housework, nap time, bludging in the afternoon and then dinner, shower, brush teeth then bed. then i watch tv or go on the net or whatever.

thanks ladies, this is helpful! I feel like I am making everything too hard and it's just stressing me out while my son is having seeing me go crazy. I thought maybe if I was more organized & structured it would help but you have a very good point about how they kind of mess up anything you might try to plan anyway ;-) If we're not having fun I might as well just work to keep my sanity & let him play all day with his friends!

I'm with Heather here. I have a 2yr, 9yr and 10yr olds. If we have to go somewhere, alarms go off, things get packed up and off we go. But if not, I just go with the flow. I know my kids are unpredicable for moods, naps etc, so to plan my days would be a huge effort for no reason....lol. Kids have that way of messing up schedules. When I clean I give my little guy a cloth and he pretends to help, keeps him out of trouble and the same with cooking. I give him some utensils and a pot in his high chair where he can see everything I'm doing and he has fun mimicking me. In between those 2 chores I'm usually one the floor somewhere amongst a pile of toys just having some fun. I just think that as SAHM's, we just need to enjoy ourselves with our kids and everything will fall into place on it's own. Hope this helps.

i go with the flow most days too, unless one of us has an appointment or we're going to visit someone. i have a 19 month and a 4 month old, and i try to clean while they're napping (or at least when the older one is napping bc they usually dont sleep at the same time) other than that, we play, sometimes bake, clean up if at all possible, but most of the day is spent trying to keep the kidlets happy and not crying (we're going through a bad bout of the terrible twos lol)

I have a 3 yo and a 5 mo, my days are planned if we have an outing or not. If we have an outing planned we wake up and get all the "stuff" we need to do before we leave (eat breakfast, pack bags, pump milk, change clothes) If we have no outing planned we will just go with the flow. I try to do things that are quiet like crafts, while my 5 mo naps. I also try to get cleaing done while the little one is napping. Hope this helps you!!!
