I had never heard of anyone not doing Santa until I joined COM(except for religious reasons) I am most definitely doing Santa, it's just such a magical experience for children. I am certainly not resentful to my parents for lying to me, in fact I am grateful I had such wonderful experiences as a child at Christmas time.

We talk about Saint Nicolas and what he did then talk about Santa as the Spirit of christmas so there is Always santa the helpers just get found out at a later time without spoiling the magic that is Santa because Santa still exists!

I didn't grow up with Santa and don't think I missed out on anything. I'm not going to push it with my son. Some people go way overboard and I think it's all about them and not the kids. In the end do the kids really care who brings the presents?

I am. My children are 10, 7 and 5. In our house though, Santa only brings the stockings and one small gift. I have issues with someone else getting credit for all the great wonderful things they get.
I'm not sure my 10 yr old still believes but he plays it up for the other two.

I am definately doing Santa... I have wonderful memories from when I was younger visiting santa at the store, telling him what i would like, baking cookies for Santa an some carrots for the reindeer...I want my kids to grow up with fond memories of Santa!

Agreed, my daughter is learning about the birth of Christ from me and my childhood books of bible stories. I also explained to her about St Nicholas in relation to Santa. It won't be too much longer before she figures it out but I will encourage her to play the game with us as it makes Christmas so much fun. All those Mums making accusations of us lying to our kids probably do things that we might consider not too honest, so I try not be too offended by what they say. Merry Christmas ladies and may Santa spoil you all this year. XX

Quoting Sharon:

I'm doing Santa, and it's not just for the kids as my hubby and I love Santa! I also do the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy. At certain times of the year, my kids and I decorate fairy rings for the fairies to dance in so I guess I'm a sucker for make-believe...and notice I said make-believe as opposed to lying ;-)

yes sharon.. we will do santa and our children will know Jesus birthday above alll..we're having bday cake for him this year and from now on, our boys r 2 and 1

I have so many fond memories of Santa as a child and I wouldn't take that away from my son. We read Santa stories and talk about what he says and how many cookies we'll leave. It's fun and I'll keep doing it for as long as he believes in the story of it.
