I agree with Shawnn I would be sure to speak and write grammatically correct around him. The more he is exposed to the correct way the more he'll pick up on it. I would also encourage reading to him on a regular basis if you don't, at least 15-20 minutes a day.

He is in upper kg! He got to learn veggies, fruits, birds ,months, days etc etc by heart with spellings and then are given dictations. I dunno how other kids manage to do it. Even they are given 3 compositions to write! Given 50 mark paper for exams!

Actually, Aisha, I work in the school system, and kids ARE being taught this way by their parents. Many of them cannot produce a correct sentence if it's handed to them.

That being said, he's 5. At 5, they aren't really doing much other than learning letter shapes and regurgitating (copying) what's set in front of them. If he is being required to work beyond his age or ability level, that is something that you need to address with your specific teachers.

Thnx alot Shawn! Its not always i use such words its just while general discussions or chats, this is not the part of concern here! N u should have that much commonsense that parents dun teach their kids dis way!
He has big words n paragraphs to learn byheart n then write it down, thats my part of concern!

Perhaps he's being held back by your personal style of writing?

"dis", "dat", "wid" "n", "r", "gr8"...All are texting shortcuts, not proper spelling, nor grammar.

Perhaps, if you tried to teach him properly, using proper grammatical terms, rather than shortcuts, he wouldn't be so flummoxed by writing in class.

Just a suggestion. Don't get me wrong, I shortcut when texting as well, but not when speaking, nor when writing.
