Hi I'm new here and don't know what to expect but got here by doing research on public vs. private schools. I have a "surprise" child...our other 4 are in college and we have a 4 yo who will start kindergarten next year. The other 4 went to public schools and did fine but I have noticed some changes in the curriculums that I don't agree with. I would love for my child to go to a school where God is revered, the pledge of allegiance(God included) begins the day a Christian principals are taught. I just can't afford some of the private schools and my husband and I have a business we run so homeschool would be difficult. I am desperate for help and advice. I thought I was done with this but now, at 50, finding myself worrying about this is overwhelming.

wow, great barter! We are Realtors so it would have to be someone buying or selling a home for us to barter; which I certainly would. We are also moving to a new area which is close enough to our current base of business that we will continue in the old area until we eventually transition. Because he starts kindergarten next year we may be able to pull that off. In the meantime, I have found a preK that fits our needs; just need to get him transferred and will work and pray to use that circumstance to accomplish the ultimate goal. I have contacted the local school board regarding virtual school but worry about my time and ability being sufficient for my little guy. God will guide me for sure and I know I need to take comfort and have peace in that knowledge .

Oh my, I feel your issues! I am 45 with a four yr old in Pre-K under a Federally funded program in our area. My oldest are Daughter (25yrs old) & son (22) who had my GRANDSON the same week 4 yr old began Pre-K! Curriculum is a different world from my first children s school days. (thanks to lawsuits & liability, Facebook, etc) Orig they thought I was his GRANDMOTHER! It can be very daunting, this "culture shock". The worries & concerns you have are quite legitimate. But regardless, a Mama Bear WILL ALWAYS forage & NEVER give up until she finds EXACTLY what she needs. As a child, I attended Parochial school. Regardless of the school Children, especially the younger ones can be "diverted" from the beliefs you instill & feel crucial in their educational upbringing & respects to faith & God. As we all know, peers & especially their educators take over through the most formative periods in their growing minds. Search, search, SEARCH. Call "211". Call local Social services or Board of Education for a COMPLETE listing of ALL schools with these values you hold so dear. Filter your choices from best to worst or vice versa. Once you narrow it down, inquire into possible "sliding Scale rates. Some areas have supplemental groups that can assist you with the additional costs for payments or if not YOUR chosen church, other Christian agencies & support groups Such as "Helping Hands" may if not help you w/ assistance, at least be able to point you to an organization that could. Research, ask. Look up reviews. Ask other parents of the schools you wish to enroll your child. Ask the teachers or counselors for additional references. Research archives at local newspapers & even at the court house for any relevant issues on file. God Bless you Mom. You have it in you to accomplish the Unaccplishable. For through God, NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE. Ask & ye shall find. For our loving God, through His son Jesus Christ our Savior, has PROMISED us that EVERY prayer, every door knocked on, He hears & He answers. I believe we both know that firsthand. Ask for the Hand of Jesus in your search. He will point you in the Best direction for you and your very blessed little future of a child. He/she will do great things through your diligence & directly through the love of God our Father, and His Loving, patient and forgiving Son Jesus. You all our in my prayers. The answers & solutions will become apparent to you when He feels you are ready. Isn't THAT a WONDERFUL feeling?!? **** Oops, forgot to mention, the barter system is alive and well as its ever been. You can offer goods or services withing your capabilities through personal abilities or through services that you & your husband provide in your business. You'd be amazed! EXAMPLE: My husband owns an Automotive repair shop. He bartered with a pediatric surgeon AND a pediatrician. He performed repairs on their cars, (minus cost of parts) waived all diagnostic & labor fees. The reward for us was a FREE circumcision from surgeon, and free pediatric visits for 8 yrs! Awesome!
