My baby boy screams too. He wakes up from his nap screaming. I see your post is from last year but I am glad to read it to know he is not the only one.

This IS the only way that they can communicate.

It is up to you to determine what each cry means. They cry differently for each thing, hungry, need to be changed, need love/attention.

They can't speak. They can't say "momma, my diaper's wet", or "momma, I'm hungry", or "momma, I need a hug".

Crying is the only communication they have until they get older and start to respond to you talking to them. You also need to be vocalizing to him all the time, even if it seems stupid. Keeping a running conversation of "mommy's doing laundry, I'm folding shirts, they have sleeves, where do shirts go?..." type of thing.

Babies cry because that is their form of communication. They don't have words yet.

If your child is 'screaming all the time', it indicates that there is a need not being met.
