About 2 weeks ago I woke up to my son who is 11 screaming. I went into his room thinking he was having a nightmare. He was completely unresponsive, eyes wide open and limp. I tried waking him up and he wouldn't wake up. This went on for about 30 seconds or less. He finally came to and couldn't speak or walk that well for about 5 minutes. We took him to the ER and they said he had a night terror which I had never heard of. The next couple of nights he was fine. Then he started waking up everynight, not making as much noise, but sitting up and having jerking movements, eyes wide open and drooling while having these episodes. He remembers everything. I think that they are rolandic seizures. I have an appointment with a neurologist, but they are booked for a month out. We have noticed that he only has these between the hours of 3:30 to when he wakes up in the morning. For the last 3 days we have woken him up at 3:15 am and let him go back to sleep and he won't have any episodes. The last two nights we tried not waking him up, the 1st night was fine, but this morning he had another one about 5:45. He had to go to the bathroom after he came out of it. Does this sound like rolandic seizure? The only reason is that I have doubts because if I wake him up in the middle of the night he seems to do just fine, we have also noticed that he will also have them when he has more of a restless sleep, a lot of talking in his sleep. Any information would be helpful for I have to wait for a month to see the specialist.
