seizures & puberty... connected?

13 year old son had first seizure in Dec., 2012 and has had four since...any advice? No history of seizures in either family... Waiting for 24 hour eeg video test results to come back ..had MRI done...normal... an hour long eeg had one abnormal spike on right side.... trying to see if anyone has any input or has similar situation.

They could be, but that doesn't mean it will go away once he gets through puberty. My cousin is epileptic. However, he did have seizures when he was very young and outgrew them when he was about 6, then at about 13-14 developed them again, and the doctors said the hormones had triggered them. He has had to remain on medication for the rest of his life (he is now in his late 40s).

Thank you Jodi...I'm new to this site but so thankful for the support. I do realize my son will prob need to be put on meds for the seizures (which really make me nervous)...just hoping the eeg will give us some answers.
