My daughter is beautiful, but , she does not think so. She has spent most of her life dressing and acting like a boy, but, I think she wants to figure out how to be comfortable as a woman. Is their a camp or a program that we or she can attend that will gradually show her how to change her hair style, wear women clothing, learn to love who she is. She is so depressed

We have had her spend 7 days in a facility , but, it was more detrimental, because she was surrounded by too many depressed and confused people. We have not been able to get her to agree to talk to a therapist now, because of that experience. She is uncertain about her sexuality, she does not have any girlfriends that want to hang out with her. I want to find a place that can spend time, helping her learn to LOVE herself again. She is starting to say that she is tired of being a girl that dresses like a man, but all of the clothes for women are uncomfortable. We just need help.

If she is depressed, she needs to see a psychiatrist and/or a therapist. Someone to talk to may help her tremendously. Do you have a comfortable dialog with her? Is she uncertain of her sexuality? How old is she? You can take her to a make counter and she can learn proper skin care and makeup application technique. Does she have girl friends that she can talk about hair style and fashion with? I think looking at magazines is not a great idea because they portray such unrealistic images of women. Is she involved in activities or sports? Doing thing she enjoys with people who are like minded may help her more than a makeover.
