Hello my son is 3 yrs old and had been diagnosed with severe apraxia. He never cooed as a baby or babbled, we initially thought he was deaf, and had all the screens done. He failed the first test buy passed on the low end or normal on his abr. He had a ados(autism) screen and the only reason he wasn't full diagnosed with it is because he learns to sign so quickly. But he has severe"autistic quirks"the dr stated. He can barely say maybe 10 words and those are just babble. But since March he has learned 191 words in asl(sign language) the Dr says since its so severe sign will most likely be his main form of communication in life. My question is has anyone had their child recover after being told they wouldn't?
