Please keep Jeremiah in your thoughts. He is my great-nephew and was beaten horribly by his mother's boyfriend. He is 16 months old.
Currently, my husband is going to the hospital as a guard as police refuse to provide any protection and they are being harassed terribly by the father's family (the father himself is in prison) and the boyfriend's family as well as news now. The hospital is unable to provide any security either.
Jeremiah's head is three times the size it usually is due to all the swelling and bruising. The left side of his face is completely swollen shut. They cannot tell if he's blind or not in his left eye. They cannot tell if he can hear out of his left ear. He has full handprints down his entire body with the exception of his butt and his stomach. A full body CT scan amazed us because somehow, his brain is not swollen and his bones are not broken, nor does he have any major organ bleeding. We do not know if he has brain damage. He used to say a few words, now he says none. He could walk earlier this week, now he cannot but it may simply be due to pain, balance, or current head swelling. He can move all his limbs and can breathe and cry. We are grateful he has survived, but with all the bruising they still have to watch for liver failure and kidney failure, seizures from the beating, brain damage...
