My son is almost 4 months old and recently had surgery to repair a cleft lip. They put him on amoxicillan 2x a day for 14 days. We are now on day 4 and he has diarrhea so bad. Its so bad that once I change him he goes again so of course keeping him dry is a battle. Now he has developed this horrible rash that I cant stop. I have tried desitin, monkey butt paste, boudreauxs butt paste and now im trying baby powder to see if that will dry it up. He is so miserable. Going to have to call dr but does anyone have any advice?

I hope your baby gets better soon . my baby was on antibiotic for only 5 days n got diarrhea . Wiping bum with wipes or cotton can be abrasive if done frequently so yes washing with luke warm water helps . pl see a doctor . Apart from what gena said .... I would like to add that , In the mean time make sure that he doesnt get dehydrated . You can try soft muslin or cotton cloth diapers with foam pads . They are washable . However r not leak proof . So u may have to put any thin diaper changing mat under his bed cover . During night time i use a larger diaper so that its little loose and comfortable .. As in my baby uses Medium size diapers so i use Large size only for nights . Ur baby is 4 months old ... Is he rolling over ??? If not . Place him on a diper changing mat with a soft cloth on it ...without diaper . and keep changing sheets ... Just for some time during each day . U may need a few sheets though but it will give relief to baby . Hope ur baby gets better soon . God bless u and ur baby

If you can let him be on a blanket/towel that you dont mind washing if it gets dirty then let him be without diapers for a while so that his bum gets some air that could help. Also if you are using wet wipes maybe try washing him with luke warm water.A cream that i can recommend is Oxyplastin..i dont know where you live, but if you can get it there definatly give it a try.Good luck, hope your little one gets better soon.
