I think OP means induce, not reduce.
Seminal fluid has an enzyme in it that will help soften your cervix, so some doctors recommend intercourse when couples are at the due date. However, I worked in labor and delivery for many years and have heard dozens of "labor starting" ideas. I think they tell you to go have sex, to take your mind off waiting around!
If you really warrant your labor induced there are medical methods to do so; cervidal, pitocin and rupture of the membranes.

Actually I got told by the nurse when I was pregnant the first time that if i wanted to speed up labor it would help to have sex. I am not sure where they got that idea but sex is a physical activity and any activity that is physical can make labor come on more so. I think you need to find your information from other sources. Talk to the doctor or nurse you see.

I have never heard of sex reducing labor but maybe helping to bring it on more so. Where did you get this idea?
