I have three amazing little boys, and my husband and I decided to have one more. I would really like to have a girl this time, but would be just as happy with another boy. Has anyone tried the shettles method, and been successful? Thanks! xx

Hey there, it's all in the timing! We had 3 girls & really wanted a boy. Tried my method on about 10 other couples wanting a certain gender & it worked. Then tried ourselves, we now have a year old little boy. Even confirmed with our doctor, she agreed with my method as well!! Day 1 is the 1st day of your period, if you have sex & "try" the week following your period, it will be a girl. Do it every other day starting on day 13. Every other day vs. Everyday so that more boy sperm accumulate. The story behind all of this is, girl sperm swim much slower than boy sperm. The boys die off way faster than the girls. Most women ovulate around day 14, so the week following your period you aren't ovulating but if you "try" during this week then the boys swim up fast but die off before the egg releases, the girls continue swimming up & by the time egg releases they are there, which results in a girl. "Trying" around day 14, you are getting the boys right to the egg, by the time the girls get there it has already been implanted by a boy sperm. So if you want a girl, "try" the entire week everyday following your period!! Good Luck!!

Yup it did. I did not really follow through with all the foods and stuff like that. We just tried positions. I had a boy first, and then I wanted a girl and that is what I got. I was successful.

I have a boy and a girl and acidentally got pregnant with my third I did not think I could get pregnant because I just ended my period. So those little sperms must of been hanging out 4-5 days before I ovualted. Long story short I ended up getting pregnant with a girl and I do believe this is because of the shettles therory. However my firstborn son we used a ovulation test and I know I was ovulating when I got pregnant

Thanks for all the good info. We are not going to start trying until next year, so i'm going to go ahead and start tracking my cycles and ovulation for a few months before hand! I really hope it works, I grew up with sister's, and have always been close to mom, and would love to share that with a daughter someday. My oldest son really wants a sister, he's always like please don't have another boy mom. lol

Thanks!

Thank you! I can't wait to start trying, and see if we get a girl. If we don't, it will just be one more little boy to love.

So, everyday after you period, stopping a few days before you ovulate?

I forgot to mention that you can find out when you're ovulating by taking your temperature first thing in the morning (before getting out of bed). Do this for the 3 months that your husband is wearing his tight underwear. You will notice a drop in temperature on ovulation day. Hopefully you ovulate around the same time every month.

After having a girl first time, my (ex)husband wanted a boy and we used this method (and got our boy). My 2 girls were conceived just before a period and during (yes, during) and my two boys were conceived on ovulation day.

Just bear in mind it has 80% success rate. I would suggest to get your girl avoid intercourse around ovulation time by more than what is recommended. I think the suggested time is 4 days either side but I would suggest making it more like a week - and have lots and lots of sex to get that sperm count down! That's really really important. Also use the missionary position only.

You may need to make the timing closer to ovulation if after a few months it hasn't worked. Also your diet can play a small part. Diets higher in acid also aid conceiving a girl (but you should stick to a gnerally healthy diet) and your husband should avoid caffeine. And he needs to wear tight underwear too for three months before attempting to conceive.

I hope that helps. Good luck

Yup. So male sperm are sprinters. They can move quickly for a short period of time, then stop. Girl sperm is more of a marathon runner. Slow and steady. So, lets say you are ovulating and you do doggy style. The sperm has less distance to travel to get to the egg. So the boy sperm reach it first. Also, if you orgasm, it helps draw the sperm into you faster. Now, lets say you are on top and your egg hasn't dropped yet. The sperm have further to go, and the girls take a bit longer to get there and are arriving as the egg dropped. The boy sperm are already done. That is just a for instance. I mean your egg can be there and the girls still make it cause the boys are all tuckered out. But if you really want a girl, try not to orgasm (yeah I know...sucks huh?) cause it WILL make the boys get there in double time.

There should be a position method in there too! Not just food and timing. Hell, I ovulate right after I get my period. I mean literally the day my period is over. That is abnormal. You just never know. Point is, have fun trying.

Oh really? I had no idea position's had anything to do with it. I've been researching the girl diet, and timing of ovulation, but have not seen anything about the position to use. Thanks!

Well, I know you are joking about your husband only making boys, but really it is probably more about the positions you have chosen.

Thanks! I'm praying it will work for us as well, but I really think my husband can only make boys. We never tried with the other 3 to get pregnant, so I don't really know when they were conceived as far as ovulation day goes. I'm just going to think pink! :)
