My son starts kindergarten in the Fall. Due being on full time afternoon shift, I will now only see him on the weekends and in the morning before school :'(. I am so stressed about this, and feel like a terrible parent :(. He will be home with his Father and much older brother, but it is still so difficult :(. Financially, I have no other choice as my job is the one that gives my family medical coverage....has anyone else ever been through this.....?

Yes, my husband worked 3-11 and would not see out kids from Sunday bedtime until the next weekend. He hated it and he was able to change to night shift 11-7.

Just look at it that it's not going to be forever. Work your butt off and get some savings behind you and then you will be able to change jobs.
We all have to do things that we don't like to get ahead but it does work out in the end.

When I was 12 years old my mother went back to work on the evening shift in resturant to closing. I hated it as a kid because I was so used to mom being around at night. But she worked for a few months to get more income coming in for the family. Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do.

The point is that I am NEVER going to get to see my child....really struggling with it but am not in a financial position to quit or change jobs....

It's not as if he is staying with a stranger, he is with his Father.
What's the difference from a man working all hours and the woman being home?
