Should I allow a 9 year old girl to visit her father who is in federal prison in another state? She would have to go with the father's girl friend, not me.

But does the orders say that anyone other than say certain family at your discretion can take this child out of state? I would contact that same attorney and find out.

The Court Orders do not address the possibility of her father being in prison. It does not address out of state visits either. Once he was arrested, I stated he could only have supervised visits and he agreed. He was allowed to self surrender and spent 9 mos in counseling, work on GED and job readiness prog and showed good behavior.

He is in out of state. The girlfriend has offered the 10 year old who will be 11 next month a plane ticket to visit her. (Sorry, I hit 9 year old by mistake in the initial post.) I cannot afford such a trip. The girlfriend has already taken her 5 year old son & sent photographs they took at the prison. She is an upstanding citizen.

I am the great aunt as well as the legal guardian. Ironically, in my opinion, the father is the best parent of the two --by far-- even though he is in prison. If I allow the girlfriend to be the "Supervised" visitor, then I think the child would be in direct and immediate danger. I have a feeling I need to go to my attorney but am trying to figure out my idea of the best course, to hopefully save on attorney fees.

What do the court orders say about that? And why can you not take her instead of the girlfriend?
