Should I give up on breast feeding?

My baby boy is about six and a half weeks old. Due to problems in delivery and being two weeks early he had to be bottle fed. He has gained a lot of weight since then, however he won't latch on at all. We got a nipple sheild, that helped for so long, and then he stopped that. Another problem is I had a good portion of one breast removed due to a complicated cyst some years ago, and now my right breast makes less than half than my left. Plus, my baby is a HUNGRY baby, he eats (at most) four ounces a feeding...I just don't know if I can pump them up to that amount. My breast are getting pretty soft. And I'm worried I really don't know how to get them as firm as they used to be, I'm scared I may lose it all, I've been pumping but all I get is one ounce when I pump for at least 15 minutes...and that's out of BOTH of them combined! Plus the fact that I'm not making much is depressing me to a point where I want to throw my hands in the air and say I give up. I have no family and no friends (due to moving to a new town and leaving my old friends back in the military) I have no support what so ever except my boyfriend...but he doesn't understand this feeling too well....I need support from somewhere. =(

I'm all for breastfeeding IF you can do it but neither of my babies were breastfed for very long before I couldn't handle it anymore. If you've tried everything you can and are still feeling this way then maybe for your sake aswell as bubs try bottle feeding. I know alot of people will say "don't give up, it gets easier" "breast is best" bla bla bla but whats more important? A happy mum and a happy bub or a stressed out depressed mum with a hungry baby. If you feel you can carry on then by all means go for it!! But breastfeeding doesn't come easy to everyone and you shouldn't force yourself into doing something because you are scared someone might judge you. You know whats best for your baby, no one else does, go with your gut on this one and don't feel guilty. I hope everything works out and if you need to talk I'm always here :) I know what its like to be in your position and so do many others out there.
