My son is 6 years old and only saw his father twice when he was under 1 year old. He has never been there financially eathier. He is in agang and has a very violent history with women. He just got out of prison after 2 1/2 years and is now trying to contact me to see him or he says even talk to him on the phone. My son doesn't have any male role models and his step dad passed away last year. Should I let him even talk to his father on the phone even? I don't want him to resent me when he is older because I kept his dad away you know teenagers never understand.

not only would he resent you, but you could end up loosing any form of custody, for keeping him away. while he was in jail, you should have tried to get him parental rights taken away if you were worried about him seeing him... i would go through the process now, so that maybe at some point you wouldn't have to let him see your son. at least he has some recent history of violent behavior, start getting a lawyer to work on some papers... at least get some supervised visits started...
