Should I or should I not believe in God?
Please give me reasons why you say yes or no.
Please don't be angry at one another for your opinions, I would like everyone to have the freedom to voice their own beliefs.
My lack of faith and lifetime purpose might affect my provocation, mood or influence towards my children. It might also set a good example or receive them more luck and good fortune.
I consider anyone who answers me as extremely wise and beautiful people, so thank you for helping me if you do! :)

Whether or not you choose to have faith in a supreme being is something that only YOU can decide, Jacqueline. No one can or should dictate to you whether or not you should worship.

Personally, I DO believe, only because I have seen, first hand, the miracles that are possible in faith, and my eldest is a living testimony to our faith. However, that is MY experience, and I would be out of line to take you to task for having different beliefs than I do, or for having no belief at all.

Now that I read your most recent response...honey, God forgives, you just have to ask. We don't all follow the 'straight and narrow' path our entire lives, and we all question Him at times. Like I said, I know for certain that He is watching over me and mine, by benefit of personal experience.

Whether or not you wish to re-offer yourself to Him, and seek forgiveness for having strayed is your own decision.

Best of luck in making it

No, I do understand. And my point is that you shouldn't be relying on other people's opinions to decide on what you should do when it comes to your beliefs, or even caring about other mothers' views. You have my support if your choice is what you truly believe in, because that's what it should be about. Don't let others put you down for that choice.

I find it odd that you ask a question like this, because faith is very much a personal choice and not something you can believe in by being told you should or shouldn't. No amount of opinions will help you decide something like this one way or the other because you either believe or you don't.

I am not going to say yes or no as this is a personal choice only you can make. Life is what you make it. I do believe and am a Christian though not perfect. In those not so perfect moments, my faith lacked and my actions around family and kids was not the greatest. In those so called perfect moments, I was much better in both areas. I think it also is a mind set. Not everyone is going to believe in God. Its up to them but it does not make you a bad person because all in all we do answer for our own selves in the end.

That is a decision only you can make. The journey to God doesn't happen by sitting in a pew and having someone preach at you. There is a very wise verse that say something roughly like "Go to a quiet special place and be alone with God," I'm not sure what book or verse this is, but if you are looking for God you have to find that quiet place where he is and where you can talk to him. It is a very PERSONAL journey. I struggle with my faith but I KNOW there is a higher power, something great and profound, some purpose to which we are all heading. Faith comes from within, it can not be given.

Hi Jacqueline,

I think this is a great question, and I respect the opinions of others, they have their rights to their opinions and are entitled to share it.

I am a Christian, I was brought up in the church. At first, I kind of felt like it was pushed on me, but then I came to understand and wanted to have that in my life personally.

I won't tell you whether or not you should believe in God, that's your choice. I'll just tell you why I do, from my personal experience.

In my eyes, this universe is far too complex to have just erupted out of nothing. I think that there is a higher being that created it and us. I think that by nature, people are born with a sense of what's right and wrong and they learn more as they grow. But I think this nature that people start to know good and bad at a young age has to have come from somewhere...

I think living in the city is a hard way to believe in God, I think taking a trip to the country side really opens your eyes. Once you can see ALL of the stars in the sky, that's when it starts to come into perspective. You get to believe "wow, all of these stars came from somewhere" It just seems logical to me, but I've never been on the other side of the fence. Sure I have my doubts sometimes, but I always hear a little voice in my head guiding me along, I don't think it's my conscience. i think it's someone who knows the plan for my life.

Best of wishes and good luck in your journey, I pray you make the right choice :)

Jacqueline, I don't want to tell you what you should do. I believe in God 100%!! I hate to see anyone who doesn't believe in God! It's physically impossible for there not to be a God! The human body is so unique, so brilliant. For the ones who say, "Some kind of explosion happened in space, long ago." are really not all that intelligent... My opinion.. Sorry if this effects anyone!! Not my intention!! The human body is way to advanced in ALL departments! It had to be designed by someone!! (With that someone being God himself.) Yet, that's the way I look at it!! Always make sure to set a good example for your children.. ALWAYS!! Please think about what I said Ms. Jacqueline Rose!!! (:

This also goes the other way, as in how do you tell your parents that you do not believe in the faith in which you've been raised...

Your family will have opinions, all families do. What matters is what's in YOUR heart, and what is right for YOU.

Let me put it this way. I already DO believe in God. But I'm just wondering whether I should offer myself to him and he will forgive me for all the years that I treated him like a scam.

There is something you don't quite understand. When one is raised in a family which firmly believes that God is a stupid, worthless scam, it's a miracle to go from calling God stupid to saying that you offer yourself to him.
So I just need support.
I have already made my choice, but I was seeing what other mothers' views of this would be.

It's your choice.

As for me... I absolutely do believe in God. I've seen too much from Him in my life not to.

Thanks for the compliment. I am not always wise in everything but I think that best sums up what people should do. It is your life and your choice. And you should be respected for the choice you make and made to be feeling guilty for it. My son is going through a period right now of his belief system and what he is looking for. He does have the basic moral and value principals that I have instilled in him but its the faith and other things that he is still trying to figure out. I told him if he did not chose the Christian faith and went with say being Buddhist for example that I would respect that.
