Should my 3 year old still be sleeping with us?

I cant get my 3 year old to stay in his own bed. My husband and I are in for a long night if we try to break him of it so we just gave in. What can we do?

If you don't MIND having him in your bed... there is nothing wrong with it. He'll out grow it when he's ready. If you WANT him out of your bed... try having him in his own bed (futon, sleeping bag, whatever you have) next to yours as the first step in the transition and see how it goes.

Has he always been a co-sleeper? If so, I don't feel it's entirely fair to just arbitrarily (in his eyes) 'kick him out' at random. A slow transition is better. If he hasn't always been a co-sleeper and this is new behavior.... you have to remain consistent with the way you want things to be or you will just confuse him and prolong this.
