Should schools provide opt-out forms to parents who do not wish to have their children fingerprinted?

Police will be coming to the school to teach children stranger danger, online safety. They will also fingerprint the children and provide child identification cards to parent (just containing finger prints). There is no way this could happen without the police consulting with the principal (what if they came in on the day the principal assigned a test) and they will need to make space available in locations such as the gym or cafeteria so they won't be utilized. Should schools provide opt-out forms to parents who do not wish to have their children fingerprinted?

Information about the fingerprinting program.

Why on earth would you not want this done? If he/she goes missing it could help prove if they had been some where. God forbid, the worst happened, they could identify your child instead of you having to view your child in a state no parent should ever have to see their child in, in order to confirm his/her identity. But, whatever...I'm sure it's your choice. If they don't provide a form, call the school and/or send a letter with your child stating your desire he/she not be included.

I guess I'm not sure why someone wouldn't want to have their child fingerprinted, but I'm sure if you expressed your wishes to the school, they wouldn't force anyone to have it done.
