My daughter was diagnosed with a herniated belly button at a months age now she is almost 4 months and her belly button is starting to go back in. Although it is not bothering her, her dad and i are worried because it seems very hard and being first time parents i dont know if we are just being worry warts or if this might be something serious.

You can always call the er and tell them what you're worried about. They should be able to tell you if you should bring her in or not.

As long as she's acting fine with out pain or discomfort I say she's okay. Bring it up at her next well visit.

They usually get hard when there is food in there, a little while after they eat. But I'm surprised you haven't noticed that before. All the hospital will do is make sure it can move in and out freely (they will just make sure they can push it in without using much force and it doesn't hurt her). My baby's fluctuated in size, shape and how hard it was from one day to the next depending on how much he ate or whether he had gas etc.
