Should you give into tanturms if the child is tired?

My 4-year-old daughter gets really grumpy when tired. I work nights two times a week and when I go pick her up at Grandma's house she wants me to hold her to the car instead of holding her hand because she is tired. I believe that she is getting to heavy to hold and it hurts my back at times. But, every time I work she has a temper tantrum about me holding her. Should I give into what she wants or just let her have the tantrum until she decides to come to the car with me?

My son is 6 and if I pick him up from his grandparents late at night I carry him. Some nights he's dead weight if he's asleep and there is no way I could wake him up to walk. Personally if my child is tired I would just carry them to the car and get them home to bed rather than try and fight with them to walk to the car. I certainly don't give into tantrums but if my child is tired or hungry my goal is to get them food or sleep asap, I definitely don't do things that I know will bring on a tantrum.
