shouldn't my child be crawling by now?

nah, sounds fine. My first went straight to walking around 10 1/2 months, then crawled later. Both my boys learned to go from tummy to sit after they learned to crawl. Everyone is different. She probably does crazy things way before my kids ever did, and my boys probably did some things earlier than her. Totally normal. :)

I agree Jessica that is a little stupid that her doctor is concerned that she is furniture walking, but not crawling. There are so many kids in this world who skip crawling completely. It doesn't mean that something is wrong.
Does she find other ways to get where she wants to go? If so, I probably wouldn't worry since some kids never crawl. If you are concerned though it is worth asking her doctor about cuz he/she can check other motor skills to see if it's worth being evaluated or not.
My 14 month old nephew is starting to take a few steps here and there. He mostly 'crawls' though. I put it in quotes cuz while he CAN do the hand and knee crawl... 99% of the time he doesn't. He sits on his butt and moves himself around w/ one hand on the ground while the other hand is usually holding on to some toy. He looks like a little monkey. ♥ lol
