Like others have said, sounds like sciatica! I had it with my second pregnancy too...not fun! As for the labor part...with my daughter I was in labor or two days before I had her, so there was pretty much alot of warning that she was coming, with my second (my son) I had no warning, tons of braxton hicks but that was it, then one night it was full on labor and he was born about 10 hours later! Good luck with this baby and hopefully everything goes smoothly!

This is all normal. But the pressure can last two to three weeks, it doesn't mean labor will be starting that day. You will first feel something like a stomach cramp that you've had during your period. It might not even hurt so much at first, just feel like a tightening. I don't mean that the belly will feel tight (I'm sure you're stretched so much that it feels pretty hard right now!) I mean it will feel like the muscles are tightening (which they will be). It will happen. Then release. Then it will happen again. After about ten of these you will get the picture. You will expect another tightening, and it will happen again. When is is painful, I don't mean a little uncomfortable, I mean when it hurts, you need to get the hubby, get in that car, and go to the hospital. My first time we stopped for doughnuts on the way, lol! Obviously I was not "hurting" as much as I thought! I was in the hospital 18 hours before the contractions got "painful." She was born an hour after the first really painful contraction.

I had no signs. Just suddenly started contracting every 2 minutes instead of my usual 5-7 minute BH. I guess the kid's heart rate was much lower than usual (I had an NST that morning). I thought that was weird but the nurses didn't think it was a big deal.

Ok that sounding like I was saying I'm suffering from sciatica WITH Katherine lol. What I meant was I'm in agreement with Katherine.

I'm with Katherine and presently suffering from a bad bout of sciatica. Something that can ease it is lying down on your side with a pillow inbetween your legs.

It sounds like the baby is pressing on your sciatic nerve. The symptoms you are describing are exactly what it's like. I have 2 bulging discs in my back and get shooting pain down my leg and numbness.

As for labor, my baby moved A LOT, I had contractions and then my water broke.
