I am having quite a difficult time with my 6 year old daughter. She argues every point, speaks to "elders" with no respect, continually breaks rules that I am positive she knows... I am at my wits end! I don't know where to go from here. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. I am a single, young parent that works full time. She just started 1st grade last week.

Either not allowed to go out and play with her friends, no TV before bed, and/or no special treat after dinner. Then we sit down and discuss what she did wrong, why it was wrong, and how it should be done in the future. She is corrected (at least at home) when she talks disrespectfully.
On the other side of things, when she does behave we really make a big deal out of it. She is positively reinforced through a special snack, then we call the grandparents and brag about it.
Is this normal behavior for a 6 year old? I feel like we are covering our bases here, but for every step forward I feel like there are 2 steps back!
