It really depends on how severe the eczema is. I found steering clear of bars of soap helped and even oatmeal baths help.
Find a cream without any perfumes in to keep the skin moist. Also make sure you are using a fragrance free laundry detergent. Lavender is usually a huge trigger as well so stay well clear of anything scented with lavender.

My son had excema since 5 months old. I got it under control doing these things... If its a bad breakout extra virgin olive oil mixed with cerve cream .. Apply everyyyy diaper change ... If its mild cerve cream every diaper change and at night i apply aquafor all over hia body wrapped in feetie pjs... In the winter he gets a bath only 2 x a week bc the water drys their skin out and i use steltopia milky bath oil for his bath. I also startted giving my son baby dha cod liver vitamins with omega 3 and fish oil bc the omega 3 helps their skin. My son is 21 months old to be and has very clear moist skin. As soon as you get it under control its easy to maintain and your child will be itch free :). Hope this helps!
