I was thinking you were talking about a barely one year old kid here by your OP... my mistake.

If she slams the door you could make her open and close the door nicely over and over (like 10 times for each offense). She'll likely get bored of having to do it over and over again and stop slamming it. If she slams her fingers in the door... she'll learn on her own why she shouldn't do that.

You don't want to scare her? She's nearly 4. She can learn not to do it. If you can't discipline her now, you're sure as heck going to struggle in a few years! If you are telling her not to do it and she is continuing to do it, then you need to act with consequences. She is also old enough to explain WHY she shouldn't do it - let her know that if it slams on someone's fingers it will hurt them. She is old enough to understand that concept. Be the parent.

OK, it's just that you said she'd been walking a couple of months now. Being nearly 4, I'd have thought she'd be past the stage that you are describing. By this age, they've usually already explored the house and are relatively more disciplined. Given her age, perhaps implement some time outs for if she slams the doors - she is old enough to be asked not to do it and expect her to comply.

Uh, Mia is nearly 4. If she has only just started to walk in the last couple of months, then you should be concerned.

Ok,she has started to stop doing it but I have tried putting pool noodles on the door and stuff like that but that ends up of the door and a new toy. that would work much better than the attempts that I have made. Thank you

Ok, I just don't want to scare her or for me not to be watching and she slams her fingers or her sisters fingers in the door.
