My soon to be 1 year old son. Has not established a sllep routine yet. Intact when I think about it I have not had a whole nights sleep since I've had him. I feel extremely sorry for him too as he must be so tired. Night time is pretty much the same. Teatime, play, bathtime and wind down with a story and last feed. My boy will fall asleep but within two hours is awake again and can be upuntil early hours of the morning.

My partner works away, so I am struggling at the moment to function during the day . School runs and house work are not easy. I feel like I need to get a grip but I am so so tired.

Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I'm in my own little hole at the moment.

When he wakes up in the middle of the night, what do you do that allows him to be up until early hours of the morning? My son was a good sleeper but once in a while, he would do the same thing. Try not to turn on the lights or talk to him or give him any reason to think it is time to get up. If he is hungry, give him a bottle of milk. If he needs to be changed, change him. If he needs to be burped, burp him. But do all this with the lights dimmed low and with minimal communication. When done, return him to his crib.

When are his nap(s)? As they get older, they will need less sleep total so plan accordingly. Does he have his own room? Unless he needs some personal care at the moment, try to avoid going to his room all the time, even if he is crying. He may be starting to associate his crying with you running to check on him. Many kids wake up throughout the night from their slumber, but will fall back to sleep on their own if given the time.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
