My almost 8 month old learned how to stand up and sit back down in his crib this week. This led to many missed naps and very early mornings at 5 AM I guess so he could practice his new skill. I am doing all I can to help him catch up on his sleep as you can see how tired he is all the time. But most of his naps are not lasting past 45 minutes and he keeps waking at 5 AM and not going back to sleep. He's not one of those babies that will sleep in the car or stroller either. I've always had to rock him to sleep for his naps. He has learned how to go to sleep on his own in his crib at night, but I've not had the courage to transition him to this during naps for fear he might miss them altogether.
Has anyone else had a baby who became very lacking in sleep like this? I guess my question is "Were they okay in the end? Did they end up some how catching up on their sleep?" I've read so many books that tell you that if your baby doesn't have so many hours of cumulative sleep a day that's a really bad thing. I just don't like to see my baby wake up from a nap still yawning and rubbing his eyes...Any encouragement or advice to a distraught mom would be so welcome...thank you!
