my sweet little girl of two years old has become frightened (?) of going to sleep by herself. I have tried many techniques which has made her more confused than ever. I want more than any thing to just curl up beside her and sooth her to sleep, but I don't feel this is a healthy, long term solution. As I write she is getting out of bed crying and I am walking her back to bed and kissing her on the forehead, leaving the room....and we have been doing that for maybe 45 minutes, I'm ready just to give up of the daytime nap

Is he sleeping late in the morning? If so that is when I let them sleep till no later then 7:30am - 8:00am, then I wake them and start our day. Then around 11:00am he is ready for a nap, giving me time to do small task around the house then he is back up by 1:00pm or so and we play till his brother and sister come home from school, have dinner, then bath, then lavender lotion which helps to relax them a little then take him put him in bed doing the things I mentioned below... I hope this is helpful, take care and best wishes..

With my one year old, I kind of make a game of it.. I tickle his toes and let him hold the diaper while I take to old one off then we play tug a war or he will just hand me the new one to put on.. He use to scream but I just kept my cool and talked to him and explained that we had to have a dry behind.. which works too.. I also have found soft music and projectors work really well with him as far as giving him something to watch and listen to while he is falling asleep...

I use night light, favorite toy, picture of mommy and daddy and monster spray.. These 4 things make bed time much easier for my now 6 year old, almost 5 year old and now out 1 year old.. Monster spray is just a little water, glitter and lavender in a spray bottle.. I go in spray the room and it helps them to relax and unwind a little bit.. At the start it took a few weeks for them to really understand, but I just kept up with it. We started when they were around 1 or 2 when they first started telling they were scared of whatever they could imagine.. Love my kids imaginations but sometimes they let it run a little wild at night.. I feel for you and can understand... Our 1 year old still bucks at night sometimes. Hope this is maybe helpful, take care and best wishes
