Sleepless at night!

I'm expecting our third child. Our daughter, 17mths, sleeps in her room in a crib. Our son, 2 1/2yrs old, has a toddler bed, but refuses to fall asleep in his room alone. So we have a routine, he falls asleep on the couch, and we move him to his room...well, after a few hours, he comes running into our room. Needless to say, we most often do not have alone time, because soon after, we get a visitor in our bed. We try to be cool about it, and think, this is only going to last a couple more years, but honestly...I can't do it anymore. I love waking up to my son's adorable smile, and hugs, and so does my fiance, but we can't sleep.
Our little booger is a restless sleeper...kicks, turns, rolls, you name it. Not to mention, he loves to play with my hair, so I don't sleep because he's always tugging at me, and he gets right under my back, so I can't roll over. When he gets back to sleep, we'll sneak him back into his room, but then a few hours later, he's running back to our bed.
I know we started these bad habits, and we've played along, but we can't keep going like this...especially with the new baby soon to arrive. I need advice...how can we get our toddler to fall asleep in his bed, and stay in his bed...ALL NIGHT LONG?!
PLEASE GOD HELP ME OUT.

My friend had the same problem with her 2 year old son she took him to the store and let him pick out a new sheet/comforter set for his bed... then let him help her wash the new stuff and put it on his bed and then made a big deal out of how he was special because he got to sleep in a bed with new comfy sheets that he picked out all by himself.. she laid down with him that night actuly sat next to his bed as she couldnt fit in the toddler bed with him she said this was their special time and that they could do it every night but that it was time he started sleeping in his bed she let him know tha she will stay till he falls asleep and that if he needs her he can call for her and she will come back but that he needs to sleep in his big boy bed. If he came to her at night she just take him back to his room and settle him. It took a week or so but now her son goes in his bed to sleep all night no problem

I wish I could lay in his bed, but he's got one of those plastic toddler "character" beds, that can only hold like 100lbs, and I'm 28 wks pregnant and almost 30lbs overweight...bunking with him, isn't an option! :)

My girls love to come into our bed, but it is definitely not worth sacrificing sleep over. If you consistently walk him back to his bed every time he comes to your room, he will stop coming in. Sometimes I would lay down with my daughter in her bed. Then whenever I wake up, I go back to my bed. This works quite well. Have you tried laying down with him in his bed at bedtime? My mom did that a lot with her 5+ children.

I also tell my girls that they are allowed in my bed after the sun comes up.

Hm, that sounds like a good idea. I think I'll wait till Monday...something about starting on the new week, just seems to roll easier.
