my oldest 2 started together at 4&6 going to a house where they each had a friend. It was a nice way to start. By 7 my oldest was going on her own. However, these are only to people's houses that we know well. My 2 youngest haven't gone yet and they are 3&5.

My sons had sleepovers at age 5 and 6. I think it really depends on who the sleepover is with and if your child expresses interest. Some kids need to wait longer but don't keep your child from not having a sleepover just because of the age. If they seem ready, let them. It also gives you special time with your other child which is very important too.

My son had is first sleep over at 4 years old but it was my best friend home. He really started having sleep overs at the age of six in kindergarten. But most of them were at my home first until I really got to know the family and the children he was playing with. I had many talks with him about whats right and wrong at sleep overs without scaring him. To let him know it okay to phone mom if he wants to come home anytime at night but he never did. I always call to say good night and I also call again in the morning to see how the night went.I heard girls start early. Nobody can tell you when start you will know every child is different. I had a mom say no all the time but it was my son best friend and yes she was a girl. Then i found out it was because she wears a pull up to bed at night at 7 years old. She stayed at my home and never call her mom at all I made it fun and made sure she changed in the bathroom and my son never knew at all. Her mom was very happy she had her first sleep over at my place. I always say start in your home and see how your child does with it.
Hope this helps. I forgot to say my son is 7 now and has one almost every weekend but we have know this friends now for 3 years.
