Hi all! My princess just turned 15 months in August 18th. I took her to her 15 month old appoint and she weighs 16.12, still tiny! She is still not walking but she is cruising like crazy and can't be sitting still, she is exploring everywhere. She is still in formula, doctor wants her to take formula until next appoint (18 months). Her height is in the 25% (29.5 inches) and her head in 51%. Her weigh doesn't even show in the chart. But she is very healthy and happy and smart. I just don't understand why is she so tiny. Anybody has a small baby? hugs to all of you!

I agree with the last post, as long as your daughter is healthy and happy i wounldn't worrie! I bet she is beautiful because she is little and cute :) my daughter is 7 now but didn't walk for a long time, i thought it that was it she would crawl forever but she is a happy 2nd grader now and i don't even remember those events. You just love that baby and before you know it she won't be little anymore and you'll wish you had your little baby back! take care ♥

My son was small and still is, he is in the 19% for height and 18% for weight. Just 6 months ago he was only in the 4% for his height. He is 11 years old now. But as long as they continue to grow and gain weight and hit their mile stones, there is nothing to worry about.

I have 3 boys & my baby of the 3 who is now 9 is small, he is tall but when I see him & his class mates he is tiny. When he was younger the doctors were concerned he wasnt developing right & had me going back & forth to appointments, now its different. They know he is very active & runs around like a loony so they just monitor him to make sure he is still putting on weight. If there was a serious problem the doctors would let u know but there isnt so I wouldnt worry, she is healthy & moving about & that is all that matters. & remember babies all grow at different paces as toddlers, young children, teenagers & adults do. Hugs back 2 u. ;0)

My daughter is just about to be 19 months tomorrow and is just about 19lbs. My nephew who is 7 months younger has passed her in weight by 3lbs. I have come to just deal that she is tiny. she still at over a year and a half wears 6-9 month clothes and some of them are too bi on her. We have alot of problems finding pants that fit right. she is taller than a 6 month old but not as round so the pants are short and fall down lol. we usually just stick with dresses and over alls. I would say if she is healthy and not having any problems than I wouldnt worry.

My little boy was 2 in July and still wears clothes for a 12 - 18 month old baby, and even then we have trouble sometimes keeping trousers up. His holiday shorts that fitted him really well were for a 6 - 12 month old baby. Zach has never gone above the 9th percentile of the weight charts and his infamous weight gain was the time he put on 4oz in 5 weeks - a very feeble attempt at weight gain LOL. Zach has seen the pediatrician who concluded that he was healthy and thriving, but just tiny. I'm happy with tiny, as long as he is thriving and healthy.Zach still has milk now and then during the day as he asks for it, and I certainly don't see any harm in him having milk as well as food. Small is beautiful. As long as your baby is healthy and thriving, don't worry about the size x

Hi Jessica,
Our Princess never got out of the 17% until she was in 7th grade! She was tiny but a ball of fire! She was so mad when they changed the laws for booster seats, not only did she not meet the requirements to get out of it with her weight, she was not tall enough either. In 4th grade she was still in a 6x little kids clothing. Then when she turned 13 she grew and grew! She will be turning 16 this Jan 5th and is 5'4" and brags because she is as tall as her Mom. She even broke 100 pounds this summer, a whole 108 now. Have fun and enjoy every second with your princess! Many blessings your way....

Jessica,

My daughter is on the lighter side. She is just turning 2 and finally hit 22 lbs (I believe at 1 year she was 18 lbs and 1.5 she was 20). Some nurses were concerned, but she eats like a horse and while its mostly healthy she has had things like cookies and cupcakes. They were more concerned cause she was under the 25th for weight and in the 75th for height, but her height has stagnated now and to me she has always looked healthy. She has no chunk on her, but she has some meat on her bones, she is just petite!! I look at it as a positive, she must just have a fast metabolism (and she never ever sits still....even runs races in her sleep!). If she is healthy I wouldn't worry about it. So many think the "charts" are the only measure, but they aren't. They are a general consensus for what kids are "supposed" to fit into, but who ever "fits" the norm!! I am sure your daughter is fine, but go with your instincts!!

yes Ashley you are right as long as she is healthy she is good. It is just that sometimes I get very sad because of that and can't wait for her to start walking. I hope this month she will walk. As I said she is cruising like crazy but not walking. She is so tiny that she wears size 1.5 on shoes :)

Hi Heather, she is eating food but she is not having whole milk cuz the doctor says she will have more calories with formula. I guess it is just what you are saying, she is just small :-) but super healthy. I am average and hubby also we are not short but we are both thin. My mom says i was not a small baby when little i was average, same with hubby, so I don't know why my baby is so tiny. She wears 6 month clothes being 15 months ;)

Was she a preemie? How big are you and the father? My children were 2 weeks early and 19 days late and they were both small children. My oldest started school in a size 3. Though they were both happy, healthy children they were just little. It may be their genetic disposition. My children are now 16 and 20 and very average for their ages. My oldest is a bit short at 5'7" but I am only 5' and his Dad was only 5'8". They stayed on the small side but they grew in their own curve that was normal for them on the small side. The charts are only a guide as statistical information. Each child and family makes their own Normal!

The main thing I hear you say here is that she is healthy.

Is there a reason why at 15 mos she isn't eating baby food yet?

Are there other health issues that isn't listed here? If No then I would say, she is just little.

That's just who she is. If the doctor is concerned then i wouldnt be. My oldest son was a smally baby and everytime we'd go the doctor would say yes he's small for his age but he's healthy. That's just who he is. My 2nd baby was 9 pounds at birth and a chunker. He's still a big kid with a big appetite. They are completely opposite but thats just them
