Hi Claudia, I also have a son who is now a senior. He couldn't read even 3 letter words till he was 12. He has always had a difficult time with deadlines and still does but he deals with them in a calm way now. Tests are the worst but assignments of any kind would put him out of his mind. Brian was tested as dyslexic and as having symptoms of aspergers. He would throw fits and fight depression all the time. The public school system was not something that he could handle. Also we didn’t feel like going down a road that we wouldn’t have control over was something that we wanted to experience. So we decided to not put him on any medications. There were so many difficult times through those years.
Long story short Brian was schooled at home until his Jr. year. He started attending public school half days 2 days a week. This year he is taking a machining class at a trade school while going to public school half days (advanced math, music & english classes) and has a part time job. In addition we have worked with a ND that gave us some nutritional advice and protocols that have worked tremendously!!! Brian loves life and rarely gets down anymore!
I have learned that there are natural options out there for depression and so many other challenges that work! Since you are not seeing progress in what you are doing you might consider looking outside the MD world for a solution. I am so glad we did and I would be happy to share information. All the best!

Not all natural sources and doctors are the same. I have had experience with some ND’s in the past. Also I have tried so many products and methods out there, I couldn’t even begin. Here is what I found, some natural things work for the short term and give you hope but because they are made from “standardized” products they have been processed and altered. I always make sure to use “wild crafted” products, they're even better than organic. There might be other sources out there but I only know one place to get them.
Because I dealt with the symptoms of Lyme disease for 28 years and not knowing what it was till just 6 years ago, I tried everything! So over the years I have discovered some interesting and helpful things. There is something better than managing symptoms for health problems. You must get to the root of the problem to enjoy complete health. If you think about it this is really all that medication does is just manage the symptoms. Medication rarely cures. In fact most people I know that have gone that route will always over the years continue to increase dosages and add more medication to their regime.
If you are interested there is some information that I recommend that you listen to first. This doesn’t address the problems directly to depression but it does cover several other conditions and will give you a bit of a background for what this ND does and how he does it. If you PM me with a good email address then I will send you an invite to listen to it. It is about 50 minutes long. If you like the mindset of this doctor then I can help you get specific.

He will not see a therapist. I have tried numerous times and he always cancels the appointments. Of course, i wish he would.

Thank you Sherri for sharing your story with me. I am looking for other options and holistic ones are certainly better. Do you recommend I see a nutritionist? Where do I start?
