So I am starting to feel a bit like a failure...

My daughter is about to be 2 years old on the 17th. She has always been "big" for her age bracket. And when I say big, I don't mean she's got rolls. I mean she has always been kind of tall.

When she was 3 months, she was already fitting into 6 months. And at 6 months, in 9 month clothes.

That trend is still true today. At 12 months she was in 2T. And in this past year, she has jumped from 2T, to 3T, to 4T!

She is 37 1/2inches tall. And weighs about 40lbs. I really don't feed her sweets or fatty foods. I really do try to feed her good foods. And she DOES NOT get soda.

I'm honestly terrified for her 2yr check-up. Because I am afraid to hear her pediatrician say she looks like she is going to be overweight...

Can someone please help or give advice or comfort.

Some kids are just bigger than others. My son was like that. He was about that tall, close to 40 pounds in a size 4t in clothing and a size 10 toddlers shoe for his 2nd birthday (and he was a preemie) At 8 he still is a little big for his age. He is 80 pounds and 4 ft 8 in tall in a 12/14 big boys clothing and size 6 in men's shoes. A whole lot of big feet, tall and skinny. My daughter is taller than normal for her age but not as heavy as her brother (she was a preemie too) and is in a size 4t in clothing (needs the length) and a 10 in shoes at 2 1/2. My only full term child was the opposite and was little for his age until he was 14. What ever age he was that was what size clothing he wore.

Keep with the healthy foods, watch juice intake, and just make sure she stays active. If possible have her see a different doctor for a 2nd opinion since her doctor is acknowledging the weight but did not even mention that she is tall for her age.

That's almost exactly how she is! She is about 5T/S in the Junior section. And she is wearing size 11 in shoes. [She has wide feet like Mom and Dad, otherwise she'd be about a 9 in shoes]

Well as far as outdoor activities go, we live in Arizona, so right now, she doesn't get much outside time, it's too hot. But once it cools down for sure, she will be outside. We were going swimming but now it's too hot to be outside, but the water in the pool is getting chilly. :/ it's crap.

Children at this age tend to be just who they are for now,she will grow upwards in time and if u have a nice grip on her diet and she gets plenty of out door time I wouldn't worry remember some people rant large because they eat junk x

She's just a big kid. Her height is pretty close up there with her weight.

On a side note.... at my son's 4 year old check up he was 39 inches and 35 pounds. 25% for both. lol

I hear ya, just keep in mind that she is 2 yrs old and has baby fat which does disappear. My daughter was shory and chubby she looked lime a sumo wrestler and didnt eat much. My son who was smaller ate way more but she always remained bigger anyway she is almost 19 and is tall and thin. So go figure! I think what doctors mean is the body frames there are petite builds medium build and big boned. Any of these types have potential over weight issues it just carys diffrent. I think with the large boned types they look bigger to begin with these typs usually do have to keep portions smaller unfortunately

Well when I took her in for her 18month check up, she was 35ins and weighed 35lbs and he said, well we want to be careful and just keep an eye on it, that she doesn't become overweight. And even then I told him that she doesn't eat fatty foods, so what more can I do, ya know?

If she is really tall for her age wouldnt that then mean that she would be alittle heavier also? I wouldnt worry about what the doctor says she is only 2 heavy babies and toddler doesnt neccesarilt mean that they will be over weight adults! Just keep feeding her healthy clean foods
