Please folks, dont let your kid become so isolated, that they become completely comfortable with it. They may appear so, but they are not.
Try and find a group that has activities, and get your kid to go, or have the group come to see your kid and go to a movie or some other activity. There are functional young adult Aspergers people in every city. If theres not one near you, start one. My brother and sister inlaw do nothing for my nephew. and ive taken up the cause for him. Theyve helped create his dependency, and take a wait and see position. Wait and see.....what? The kids dont get out of the isolation and depression by themselves. Med may help, but everyday interaction and activities help more, from what ive seen and learned. Unfortunately, its a lifes work, getting the patient to have a life.
