Sometimes Kids Say the Nicest Things

Hi Everyone:

There's usually a lot of talk about the "darndest" things kids say, and all the little embarrassing moments. But they do say the most wonderful things sometimes too. This is just a post to share a moment that I thought was really great.

My oldest, who is 8, likes to do craft and lately she's been doing some really great stuff with paper. I often do craft myself and recently did a wedding invitation for a friend of mine. Everyone loved it, including my 8 year old, but I didn't know how much of an impact it had on her. The other day I walked in on her just sitting, looking at the invitation. She was scrutinizing it very closely and when I walked in I smiled at her. She looked up at me and said, "You know mommy, your work always inspires me."

I was floored. She said it with such a matter-of-fact expression that all I could think of was to give her a hug and say, simply, "thank you honey."

Who could ask for something more precious? Needless to say I feel like super mom right now. lol.

This isn't so much of a say, as a do. I've been having a hard time lately. One day this week, I was holding my 7 month old son while worrying over everything that has been going on lately. He then turns around pulls his binki out of his mouth and offers it to me, he was very adamant about it. I finally took it in my hand and said thank you. He just gave me this huge smile.
