Son's girlfriend of 5 months joined the Navy and now they want to get married. I don't know her well and what I have seen I have not been impressed with. I have not heard good things about her either but trying to keep an open mind. I feel she join the Navy knowing that he would follow because he wants out of his job and this area. I told him it was going to fast but I just don't know what to do. Am I being to over protective? I just don't want him to rush in.

I agree that the more you disapprove, the more he will go.
I met my husband and was engaged after 4 months and married 10 months after we met. I can work.

Thank you Lisa for your reply. I am hoping that I can talk them into waiting till after she is done with basic training. One because it is happening so fast and two to see how they handle the separation. I give him credit for telling me and I was open and honest with him. Now I am giving him some space to think about what I said and hoping that some of it sinks in.

Quit young. I would say the more you disaprove the more you will push him away. Mayb suggest its a long engagment n it may not even happen.
