Hi, sounds like we are having similar issues. My son, now 11 months is still breastfed due to refusing to take milk (formula or breast milk) from a bottle or sippy cup, however, strangely he takes water or diluted apple juice from his MagMag sippy cup which has a soft mouth piece and allows good flow. We have tried many different sippy cups and bottles with milk but no luck, except the best progress we had was with a Nuby sippy cup which has a soft mouth piece. I think at that age they still like the soft mouth piece and good flow or they just chew on it and get cranky. We have tried every possible thing....so frustrating. But I keep persisting every week and hope that he just gives in. I think he just likes the breast too much and is trying to control the situation. So, maybe try one of those sippy cups that i mentioned and put some apple juice in it or try a normal cup to see if its the teat thats the prob or whats in it. good luck

This is so funny to me because when my son turned 1 I made him give up the bottle... So i took it away completely... OMG he had a heart attack... He went 3 days without drinking a sip of anything finally he gave in... 2 days later he lost the cup and when I tried to give him another one that was not the same cup he had... He had another heart attack... Babies are a people that need to feel comfort they find comfort in there bottles or binkies and so its hard to give them up... But be strong take the bottle give him the cup and dont give in eventually he will give in...

We found out our son didn't have the SUCK reflex down yet, so we had to work on that, by having him drink his bottle sitting up. Once that reflex was down pat, he took to a cup pretty well! Prior to that,he would throw it, dump it out, anything but drink it. It will come, you didn't say how old, but I was never a firm believer the bottle has to be gone by a year!

When riley did that, I moved him to a cup with a straw. Once he got the straw down, th sippy cup was not big deal.

He is not ready yet, but keep trying from time to time. Show him how you do it

so just how much fluid should they be getting once they are off the bottle. I am used to my son getting over 20 ounces and I know for sure he is not going to be drinking that much from a sip cup...

My daughter would not drink from a sippy cup at all. What I did is went and bought a Rubbermaid litreless container (clear & has a straw inside) and because I could squeeze the fluid she got the concept of sucking it up. Plus it didn't leak and was very portable.

We started our daughter out on a sippy that has a soft rubber tip. Its very similar texture to a nipple from a bottle. You can find them a just about any store. The brand name isn't coming to mind. But you'll see them in the sippy cup aisle. Hope that works!
