My 8 year old son has been on 8 different ADHD meds in 2 years and is getting ready to switch again because he becomes immune to them. I am so past tired of this, I hate that I can't help him or change why he has to go through all this. Is there anyone out there like my son.

It might mean he isn't ADHD but there is something else going on. Has he had neurological testing for it? Medications work on the brain chemicals, and if it isn't the right chemistry, they aren't going to work. It isn't uncommon for ADHD to be misdiagnosed when it is actually something else.

Check for food allergies and sensitivities, also celiac disease (gluten intolerance). The Feingold diet helps many. Find the book by Dr. Feingold in the library or online. It's amazing what a difference dietary changes can make. Also find books by Dr. Lendon Smith and Dr. Jonathan Wright. May the Lord guide you.

Jodi is correct. It is frequently misdiagnosised. I have an extremely right brained child which tends to mimic ADD. Distracted and dreamer but not hyper. If you think this is a possiblity let me know and I will provide some helpful links. Also called Edison Trait Syndrome. Yes named after Thomas Edison. Smart kids who do not function well in a typical structured classroom environment. Actually most classrooms only ideally teach to 1/3 then another 1/3 survives but it isn't the perfect environment and finally there is the other 1/3 who struggle.
