31 year old son with Aspergers who does not accept his diagnosis and even though he has his own apartment spends most of his time with his retired parents. He does not respect our house rules and threatens suicide if we mention a restraining order. He has a part time job, but virtually no friends and has severe organizational skills. We believe that he should be in a group home. He refuses.

You feel that a restraining order is necessary, rather than telling him that you have other plans, etc?

Here's the deal. He is an adult, as you are. The time for evaluation initiated by you was prior to his 18th birthday. If he wants to spend time with you, he can respect your wishes, and being a asperger's person, he is more than capable of doing so. If you don't enforce it, he will continue to abuse it.

And that is completely up to him unless you have Power of Attorney over the decisions he is making or your are a guardian of him.
