Spankings are very effective. Look at all of the out of control teens today

I know, right, those kids mostly come from homes that beat the shit out of them, so clearly it is effective.
I don't spank my kids, and my kids are not out of control, and are truly beautiful. We don't have behaviour issues either at home OR at school. Ages 22, 16, 15 and 9. I could count on my hands how often I've even had to issue consequences in the last several months. They do not yell at me. They do not throw tantrums. They do not do whatever they want. The older ones have good jobs, they all do well at school. They are respectful, thoughtful and independent. No drugs, no smoking, no crazy drinking (the 22 year old does drink, but not in a way that is excessive), they are healthy and they are active.
So I'm sorry, what were you saying? Did you have some research to back up your argument? Or do you work closely with teens and have data on your opinion? No? In my experience, the children who have the most issues have either been spanked, or have parents who won't discipline them at ALL.
Then maybe you need to learn the difference between spanking and discipline. They are actually not the same thing. It is just a pity that some parents believe it has to be either spanking or no discipline at all. If they don't have other tools in their toolbox, that's where the problem is.
