Hi everyone. I have a four year son whose has some difficulty speaking. We r bilingual and the doctor says that can confuse a child and we should try to stick to one language for now. He knows his alphabet numbers colors and he goes to school. The teachers complain that they don't understand him and they cant have a conversation with him. He is smart and has proven it many times but i dont know what to do. Can anyone help?

I am a bilingual mother and a doctor. There are many articles that children who learn 2 languages at te same time their speech is a little delayed that the regular population but they catch up. I went thru the same with my 2 children and their teachers. They both now speak fluently both languages, they are both professionals and found easier to find jobs because being bilingual. This is the only developed countries that children speak one la Guage and they are not used to it. Keep talking your language at home . They will learn English with criends,tv and school.
