Hi I m Manisha, I have a son who is 4 yrs 3 months now, last year we moved to canada and he has started schooling here. He is learning English as a second language . He can understand simple sentences and can reply too but when we use 3 to 4 sentence to gather or use complex language he can not understand fully. He knows Hindi and can speak too. His teacher wants us to seek the doctor for language and speech development, here I want to mention that at home we mostly use Hindi as a way to communicate. He knows phonics, can read books through picture, has special interest in numbers and can count, recognize and write up to 100, knows most of the shapes and colours, the only delay is with language, so moms please have any suggestions for me then share with me

I know this is really strange but I heard the show Arthur is really good for children to learn English. I'm not sure why that show specifically but they did a study and ESL children learnt faster when they watched the show Arthur...

Otherwise I would speak with a doctor since every resource is good to have. Try reading to him in English if you are able or get him a tutor.

He is only 4 years old so he's going to catch up in time. If he can speak well in Hindi and can count and write many numbers he will eventually catch up. I would just try to expose him to English more, maybe take him to a library program and read to him in English to help him improve.
