My 5 month old (born 2 months early) will eat 3-5 ozs every 4-5 hours. Her dr. started her on cereal January 2. We put 2 tsp of rice cereal in her bottle every feeding. My question is she spits up more now then with just the formula. We wait 30-45 minutes before we lay her down or stimulate her to much. We burp her every 1 1/2-2 oz. Plus het burps are really wet. We go back to the dr beginning of march for her 6 month shots I can wait till then but thought I would see if anyone has any ideas. She's also gets so mad when u take the bottle from her to burp. She gets worked up till she burps and then u can see her relax. It seems like she's starving but she pushes the bottle out after 4-5 oz. Plus she's a good sleeper. Goes to bed at 10 and up at 5 or 6.It so hard to judge since the dr said she's actually only 3 months and not 5. Any advice on the spitting up. Thanks Tiff

OK, well, that would have been helpful information to have. you're right, she is too young to start on solids. Any solids really, and that includes cereal. Clearly it doesn't agree with her, so stop giving it to her.

The dr normaly doesn't do cereal in bottles, but he said in her case we can to see how she does. I know babies spit up normaly but being a first time mom I worry. The dr also said not to put her on fruits or veggies till 6 months but he also said we have to remember she was 2 months early so her body is still catching up. So when she's 6 months old he looking at her only being 4 months. He said she may be a little behind in development at first but will catch up. I just don't want to make her sick. 😟

Stop putting cereal in her bottle if that seems to be the reason. You shouldn't put cereal in bottles anyway. If you want to start her on solids, start her on fruits and vegetables. Clearly the cereal isn't agreeing with her.
