Hi, I'm a stay at home mom and wants to know if anybody knows of any jobs to do from home. I have tried the internet, but it is mostly scams where you must pay certain amounts of money in order to get any help. i am based in Cap Town. Any advice will be much appreciated.

I know a few moms who work from home.
One is a patent attorney. She works mostly from home, but her work is intensive and she has to keep a child minder while she is in her office. She also does have to go out several times a week, but the schedule is very flexible so she is able to be home when her older kids get home from school and attend sporting events and such.

Two are writers--one writes novels, another writes text book type things and "how to" type articles. Again, both of them keep child minders because if the child distracts them at a bad moment it is hard to get back into the swing of that kind of work, but also, the hours are very flexible so they can be around for most childhood things and pop out of the office whenever they want to see their babies.

One friend is an investor. That took quite a bit of start up capital and some good contacts, but now she can stay at home full time and do most of her work after her baby is in bed for the night. She bought a few houses and condos, fixed them up, and rents them out through a rental agency.

I, myself, own some commercial properties. Again, it took some start up capital and a very good business plan to get a loan for the first building, but now it is easy.

I also have a couple of friends who are in marketing and design who work from home 3 days a week and in the office two days a week. They both watch each other's kids when the other is in the office.

Last, I have a friend who is a mechanical engineer who works from home 4 days a week, but is required to travel sometimes for up to a week at a time, so she has a full time nanny who stays with the kids when she is away, but she is able to be home for them most of the time.
