Step kids

[deleted account] ( 3 moms have responded )

My daughter and step son look identical and this chicken contacted my husband saying her child was his.. we now have custody and needless to say he has no resemblance to the other two. No DNA test was done it was just both people consenting to the child.. I hate to sound evil and rude I do care about this child but it doesn't make sense for two child with the same father different mother to look like twin aND the other not to look even the slightest bit like them...

I still say that, if he didn't have any issues, or request DNA, then he already had some expectations that this was his child.

Hopefully you can get your head wrapped around it and be a positive part of his life.

My phone corrected me and the we now have custody of him she has no rights to the child due to him being taken from her. Once we started legally trying to figure everything out she started saying he was someone else's child. It just bothers me because the other two look identical and even identical to my husband's childhood pictures but the one we just got custody of does not. I understand I probably sound rude and inconsiderate but the way the situation was thrown on us is hard to wrap our heads around..

Not odd in the slightest, actually. That is why we are referred to as "Individuals".

Not sure why you would call a woman a 'chicken' for contacting someone she presumably slept with to notify them of paternity. That takes one hell of a lot of guts, especially if the guy is now married.

If he didn't insist on DNA, then most likely, he already knows the child is his, or has determined that regardless of paternity, he wants to be the child's father. Pretty admirable, considering he could have been a complete ass about it.

Bottom line: Have your husband make sure that his rights to this child are protected, and that appropriate custody, support, and visitation paperwork is in place.
