Hi there, everyone! I am new to this site (and also very new to this parenting business) and thought I could maybe get some insight to what my 9 year old step daughter is dealing with in regards to her apraxia. I have been trying to research this condition on my own, but not really finding a lot of information outside of the issues with speech. Her mother has informed me that apraxia can affect her memory, which seems to be a really big issue with Madalyn, as well as affecting how she learns (she is in 4th grade and at a 2nd grade level in both reading and math). I am hoping to get some insight into how this condition works and what I can expect for her long term. I try and spend a lot of time helping her learn to do things like tying her shoes, which is still a huge problem with her at 9 years old, and I try to come up with different ways to help explain things to her in ways that make sense to her, but I am constantly coming up short. Any advice on how to continue to help her would also be very appreciated! I really have no idea what I'm doing, but I am trying my best. TIA!!
